In 2017, Bigfish helped take BIGSOUND to new heights, working closely with the team to drive a record-breaking 40% increase in patrons. This year, we’ve used our full suite of brand, website, illustration, animation, video and social smarts to create a campaign that builds on last year’s success.

#Festival & Conference Brand

Brisbane’s BIGSOUND Festival and Conference is back, with a renewed focus on community, conversation and creating real change. Now drawing over 1,000 artist applications and 14,000 attendees, the festival continues to grow steadily by year – not only in its size and economic impact – but in the calibre of its contribution to the wider music industry.

In this spirit of progression, we developed a 2018 brand that was both an evolution of our 2017 identity, and fiercely unique. With a refreshed colour palette, a new suite of androgynous, human-like characters and a playful nod to characters past, the new BIGSOUND brand is bold, inclusive and disruptive – reflective of the event itself.

We've spent years trying to find an agency that 'gets' BIGSOUND. 9/10ths of the challenge of growing our event is in whether we're able to effectively communicate the unique energy and spirit of BIGSOUND to an extremely diverse audience.

Nominated for an AGDA Digital award, our 2017 website was a visually-engaging platform that echoed the vibrant nature of the festival. With all the digital architecture in place, we were able to minimise any rebuild time and costs, instead focusing on UX updates that improved the customer journey.

We refreshed the content strategy and menu structure, minimising steps to ticket sales and improving navigation. We also streamlined the timetable layout, enabling users to highlight favourite acts and personalise their own festival schedule.

With over 1,500 delegates in attendance annually, the BIGSOUND Conference places a strong focus on making industry connections. We redesigned the Delegate Portal, enabling delegates to connect with the tap of a button and enjoy a tailored networking experience.

Social media was key to BIGSOUND 2017’s record-breaking rise in attendance. Building on insights from this campaign, we developed a social strategy across Facebook, Instagram and Google Ads designed to maximise applications, increase ticket sales and reflect the buzz and excitement of the event.

#Illustration & Animation

As Australia’s biggest Festival and Conference of new music, BIGSOUND is an exuberant and unique event. We used full-colour illustration, traditional cel animation and a hand-drawn typeface to create a bespoke identity, setting the event apart from its peers and and capturing its iconic spirit of discovery.
